So I know my last blog entry was hyping the festivals this weekend, but yesterday evening I got some roadblocks thrown in my way that will delay my time getting to them. I came home from work to see a card taped to my door from my landlady claiming that the maintenance man would be showing "Saturday morning to fix your kitchen." 1) Nothing is wrong with my kitchen that I know of besides a slightly-leaky faucet that's pretty much a non-issue, 2) No time was indicated, so I'm forced to get up early and WAIT for this jackass to show up when-the-fuck-ever to do who-knows-what, and finally 3) WHY are you planning non-urgent maintenance work on a SATURDAY MORNING IN THE MIDST OF ALL THESE FESTIVALS. Ludlow is shut down, so even getting here would be a struggle with all the re-routed traffic.
It's just past 10:30 as I'm writing this, and of course he hasn't shown up yet. Never mind that I've been up since 7:00 am waiting for this jerk. Well, at least I got some housework done while I waited. And now I'm sitting here debating whether to finish writing up an adoption recommendation for a friend of mine while I continue waiting, or just saying fuck it and leaving the place. The adoption letter needs to be done ASAP, but I'm stuck in the "Oh yeah everything's great, they'd be great parents!" mode that the adoption agency will see right through instead of giving honest feedback. On the other hand, I don't want to endanger my friend's chances at being able to adopt, so I need to strike a good balance I have yet to find. But that's another issue...
As far as this jackass maintenance man goes, I think I'll wait until at least noon and if he doesn't show up by then, I'll say "hey it's no longer the morning bitch, time to party." I'm out.
