It's been a red-letter weekend for reading. I finished Watchmen and Catch Me If You Can, tore through the new edition of The Gunslinger, got 3/4 of the way through The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and have just started The Drawing of the Three. No sir, I never give my eyes a rest...
The new sales girl at work was surprised to see me reading on my lunch break. She told me she liked doing it as well, citing its calming effects during a hectic work day, and she felt glad she wasn't the only one with her nose in a book. I agreed with her, and felt glad she wasn't running with the rest of the sales crowd, trying to impress each other over their meals. A kindred spirit, perhaps? Maybe. I don't know her that well, but I seem to be encountering her quite a bit. As Roland the Gunslinger would say: "Is it ka? Mayhap it is, mayhap it ain't." Only time will tell...
