Since I’ve started SG, we have only had one staff photographer. If you know Canada, you’ll know it’s a massive place.
She is wonderful and fantastic but has a career of her own so she isn’t available to shoot very often, unfortunately for Canadian SG gals but fortunate for her as she deserves to have a for filling life, in a job that she loves outside of SG WORLD.
It’s made it exceptionally difficult for Canadians to shoot here. Our sets don’t have the same pull if a random photographer is shooting them. That’s just a fact and how the sg works.
Travelling 🧭 is basically the only way to shoot with a staff photographer. With the SG house gone in LA, it makes it even more challenging for us and expensive.
Travelling to the US as an SW from anywhere is already very terrifying. The boarders are wild, invasive and dangerous. I personally know people who have been banned for life from the States just because of their job. It’s very, very risky.
I personally would love to be able to shoot more for my SG homies, I know I wouldn’t be able to do what I do and have been doing without the incredible backing and journey I have been blessed with through this site.
This is a plea to the SG GODS that we desperately, desperately need more staff photographers and representation in Canada. 🇨🇦
