Ames is right in the middle of iowa, and yeah it is kinda back country. the only way to get around it is to get a decent group of friends.
there isnt any great underground scene, the job market sucks, a few hot chicks is all we got i guess.
it doesnt mean there arent cool people here, it just takes some effort.
i guess we do have 3 tat shops now, but i dont really dig those people, they have a hollier than thou attitude and that sux.
the best part of ames is the college town thing, about half of the population is students, so the scenery's always changin.
hmmm, what else about ames???? well it used to have a pretty sweet scene, but that was a few years ago. i got nothin i guess. the only reason i'm still here is cause i found a pretty sweet job and get paid some bucks to be here. as soon as i can sell out, i'm outta here.

saw your post in the midwest thread, talking about omaha, thought i'd check out the "local" girl. anyhow, the reason i'm posting....how in the hell did you end up in omaha from LA? just curious
freddyg:
ah, i understand. actually i went through the teenage version of that. iowa, kansas, atlanta, kansas, iowa. anyhow, luckily i dont mind iowa, and my fam is here. although i do have to say i have an aversion to white trash, and after hearing about "council-tucky" i feel very lucky to be here in the center of iowa as aposed to the frightening fringes
glad to hear you have something to distract you from the surroundings. whats the study?
hope you find some non-drama fun this weekend

The whiskey did the trick for the show but I paid for it the next day! The show was great-alot of energy packed into the Sokol audtorium. Fantastic show.
I'm in my second week of school now and miserable. I've overloaded myself with classes and have managed to get the most incompetant professors on campus. I'm starting to rock the boat a bit, and although...

Actually, I spend most of my time in CB, at home; Omaha, CB, it's all the same to me, although I have to admit that seeing all the white trash over here when I have to go out kind of weirds me out, so now I do my shopping at like 2 a.m., that, and I just try to avoid people out here in general. I am much more sociable when I am back out on the coast, but people here are so fucking shallow, the lines between social cliques are so finely drawn, that it seems almost pointless to try and get to know anyone, you dig? Kids here are posers, straight up, no two ways about it, just straight punks, and I don't know how to keep my opinion to myself, like to call people on their shit, so I don't think that I am exactly well recieved by most of the people I meet. But then again, they are all bred of the shallow mid-western gene pool, so does it really matter anyways? But, yes, to answer your question, I know Omaha very well, I enjoy prowling the streets during the wee hours of the morning when hardly anyone is out, then you can almost pretend that Omaha really is a big city. Anyways, I am straight BLAZED, thus the diatribe. PEACE

A weak ass city like Omaha really has no scene, therefore the aforementioned drama....and I love the so called, self proclaimed "hardcore punk rock kids" around here....I'm more punk in a three piece suit than any of these little faggots, they'd cry and get their asses beat by twelve year old southcoast punks in a heart beat. Argghh...

Aw fuck. Just went to the drug store for some smokes and that awful song was playing..."all by myself...don't want to be all by myself..."

i was just in omaha last thursday.
i'd reccomend a great bar there called josephine's cozy corner. it's at 22nd & pierce (just south of leavenworth) and i just love drinking there. there's no "go husker" shit there + frank is a great bartender

Omaha? Ha, you poor bastard! I myself am from Florida and, well, calling this place an abysmal abcessing hellhole would seem to be a bit of an understatement.
