update on my health: so, apparently HMO's will not cover a 2nd round of antibiotic IV therapy. this would cost me roughly $17,500.00, for the IV treatment and PICC line and insertion and facility injections alone. this is also an expensive gamble, since there is no guarantee i will no longer have a lyme infection or be pain free after this.
(somewhat cheaper if i do this at home, but last time i developed a blood clot in my heart, and the PICC external appliance started to reject after 6 weeks, the thrombosis was quickly managed by excellent staff, but i really DO NOT feel comfortable acting as my own untrained nurse, without the care of trained professionals who caught these life threatening problems the first time around).
if i submit to a spinal tap, my insurance may cover the antibiotic therapy my dr's recommend.
why in this first world country must i bargain with my health insurance company and submit to a procedure that is painful, invasive, not without risk, and is redundant. i test highly on lyme titres, and i'm current on my labs, so why?
also, bad dr billed me for $3800.44 wrongfully. i remain unemployed.
