Why is Akin being asked by the republican party to drop out of the race?
This is the party of Rick Santorum: I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created in the sense of rape but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you rape victims should make the best of a bad situation. - January, 2012
and Chuck Winder, pontificating on how often rape victims lie : I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume thats part of the counseling that goes on. - March 2012
...
and Ken Buck: A jury could very well conclude that this is a case of buyers remorse It appears to me you invited him over the appearance is of consent. - October 2010
and Paul Ryan: Im as pro-life as a person gets. Youre not going to have a truce. - Paul Ryan (R) on why abortion should be banned even in the case of rape, incest, or endangering a woman's health. When asked about jailing women for having an abortion he said, If its illegal, its illegal."
and Clayton Williams: "Rape is kinda like the weather. If it's inevitable, relax and enjoy it." -Texas Candidiate, 1990
and Mike Huckabee, who has come out as apparently pro-rape, by listing many fabulous people he knows who were born as the product of "forcible rape" (being, i guess the only kind of sexual crime the GOP recognizes AS a crime): Ethel Waters, for example, was the result of a forcible rape.
Then he also said:
I used to work for James Robison back in the 1970s. He leads a large Christian organization. He was the result of a forcible rape. Even from those horrible, horrible tragedies of rape which are inexcusable and indefensible, life has come, and sometimes those people are able to do extraordinary things.
Akin should NOT be asked to resign by the Republican party. He simply said out loud what they have been telling him.
