My parents are gone for like four days. It's good to have them out of my hair.

Things are getting dull again. Or I'm just getting bored with what I've got. Anyway, I can't wait for school to start back up. I love learning, and it'll be good to be around more people again. And a bigger city. Not that Milwaukee is a "big" city,...

WC3 has destroyed far too many of my weekends.

Have you played Planescape: Torment ?

One of the best D&D adaptations in PC, IMO.

I did and I named you n my acceptance speak!

Gonna try to throw another LAN party tomorrow. Don't think it will happen, though; my friends are hard to motivate.

I've been having a lot of fun playing Freelancer recently. Evidently, I'm a hell of a dogfighter.

What're your top 5 games (any type)?

1. Dungeons & Dragons
2. Warcraft III
3. Minesweeper
4. Magic the Gathering (old school)
5. Romance

Also, how did you...

Had a mini-LAN party tonight. That was fun. Freelancer-ed it up. Rock on. Excellent game. Check it out if you're into that kind of checking.

Related to yesterday's post: if two people both agree that if they weren't such good friends, they would try to date, should they try to date?

I just can't get her out of my head...

Ohhh, dating a "friend" can be tricky. Give it time?

Alright, I have a dilemma.

My best friend is a girl that lives ~4 hours away from me. Once school starts, it will be more.

At any other stage in my life, I would be trying my damnest to start something romantic with her. And I've told her as much.

The reason I don't is because I value her friendship so much, I don't want...

Well, there are many schools of thought on the whole 'friends into lovers' dynamic. I've done it a few times before, some with startling success, some where I have lost the person for good.

What are you prepared to risk for something truly great?

At 21, you should be a bit of a relationship risk-taker, but also be carefull about building someone up in your mind to the point that you don't see her faults. Everyone has them, love is not blind, love sees all... and accepts.

It's all in how you 'frame' it. You need to frame it in the context of it as the next natural expression of your friendship. I have had friends I've hooked up with and gone back to friendship, it is possible.

"Have you ever hung out with someone for a long time and for whatever mysterious reason you started to think about them in a different way?"

Probing, vague questions like that allow you to calibrate her response and receptiveness without having to take a major risk yet.

Don't tip your cards until you have to, the ambiguity is what generates attraction...

Last night sucked. Rather, it was too good. I'm not talking about yesterday evening, I'm talking about sleep last night. It wasn't anything amazing, but it was good sleep. Then I woke up, and realized that I really don't want to be here. I want to go back to school, or England, or Prague, or something! This place is boring and depressing. To quote Tombstone,...

Hooray high speed internet! smile The computer is more or less set up here now, though it's just propped up on a wobbly little table. That's unimportant, though; it's online.

Got dehydrated and sick last night, but I'm feeling better now. Stupid body...

Okay, so I'm in the process of moving right now. I'm just moving about four blocks, but it's still a pain in the ass. I moved the computer day before yesterday, and they were supposed to hook up the new cable modem yesterday morning. Only, they aren't getting the right frequency into the house or something, so the cable tv works, but not the computer....

Not a whole lot going on today. I finished pricing out my computer last night. It's a little over $2200, which is more than I wanted to spend, but all I've got left is a ethernet card and WiFi, and maybe a printer if I want a new one. But that includes speakers, headphones, software ... pretty much everything.

Now all I gotta do is...

The night sky burns, as if to remind me of the streetlamp glaring in my window. Burns, as if the day is refusing to die tonight. But I know this is just a trick of the eye and low cloudcover. Above, night, sweet eternal night, gowned in her finest gown of black and white. How I wish for the smell of cold, moonglow on snow....

So, I agreed to play a bit part at our local theater. Problem: didn't tell scheduling people at work in time, and I would have to give up 6 nights of work, a.k.a. about $300. I've been wracking my brain about what to do (cause the director is a beloved ex-highschool teacher of mine), and I decided to try to find someone to fill the...
