What a weekend... Kick Ass was all right. Nah, it was better than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rise of the Eldrazi on the other hand...I mean, limited is always fun, but damn. I am reminded of Scourge... I hated that set in limited. My sealed pool was decent, and I had a solid deck, but Idk what it is about Knoxville. Every time I get into the later rounds in sealed in this city, mana screw rears it's ugly head, despite 17 lands, and 3 mana accelerators.
The draft was even WORSE. I've never played in a format where six mana was still land screwed (despite having 4 mana accelerators in the deck; okay, I also had to mulligan to FOUR). Nor do I care for a format where Defenders win games. Nuh-uh, no way. No more drafts until Scars of Mirrodin for me. I'm not even going to buy product from this set. I'm only going to get singles. That way wizards makes no more money off Eldrazi from me other than what they already swindled out of me this weekend.
Other than those crummy experiences, it was a lot of fun to hang w/my magic buddies. Some only come out for pre-releases and releases, so it was fun to see them. Also, we started drafting at 1:30 AM, so it was great to actually be doing something with others since I'm usually awake at that time anyways. And I got my foil pre-release Emarkul, which is going into my Jhoira EDH.
Additionally, I got to treat myself to bobba tea, which if you don't know what that is, you should go to the nearest Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, or Japanese grocery and see if they make it. If not, buy the tapioca pearls and flavoring, and make it yourself. I go way out of my way for that stuff, and it is well worth it.
Plus the chick I check out from is super cute. At first I thought she was kinda plain, but then I heard her speak Mandarin (she's totally anglo), and I asked her where she learned. She fucking taught herself. That's how she got the job. I'm a polyglot, and it took for ever for me to learn a little bit of Mandarin when I was being taught in college. So she went from being kinda plain to super hot (I have a thing for intelligent women). And, I think she has a thing for me, because when she doesn't see me for a while, she always comments that it's been a while. One time, I asked her if she kept track, and she turned beet red.
And, my taxes will be here soon. I'm hoping I do the responsible thing and catch up on bills. Instead, I'll probably just spend it all on tattoos and scene gear. San needs a new pair of spats. And goggles.
Wow, I ramble.
