So I am watching the MLB All-Star game because I LOVE baseball (it's the best sport out there), and the baseball version of the sideline reporter (which is a dumb idea by itself) was interviewing the father of David Wright, the all-star third baseman for the New York Metropolitans. Behind the reporter and Mr. Wright, was a man wearing Carlos Beltran's Puerto Rico jersey from the World Baseball Classic (itself a resounding success and something I can't wait for again). He was standing up and waving and making a fool of himself. Funniest thing of the night!
And while I'm talking here, they continued the recently begun near-tradition singing of "God Bless America." I'm all for it. And I'm a patriotic guy. A little more cynical and jaded than I was five or ten years ago, but still very patriotic. But why do people remove their caps for this song? It's not the national anthem, and that should be something specifically reserved as a sign of respect for the anthem.
A anupdate on the game. It's the middle of the ninth right now, and the AL just went up by one on a two out two ru rally! AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!! I'm an NL guy all the way. The DH ruins baseball and all that jazz. See, told ya.
Update @ 10:20...the AL won...it's a sad night.
