The dream I had last night was a bit on the sinister side... I had gone to a party with my boyfriend. It was at one of my current coworker's (a woman) house. One of my coworkers (a man) from my previous position was there too. I was surprised, even in the context of the dream, knowing full well that these two people did not know each other. We snacked. We danced.* And when the party was over, the four of us loaded up into her white SUV. She was in the front driving. My boyfriend was the passenger side. The other guy and I were sitting in the back.
We were driving down an icy road, sliding back and forth. The vehicle started to spin in wide circles. It came to a stop against a snow bank. We all got out and dislodged the car. Everyone else got back into the car. I still had to pee. I went behind the bank. The car got hit. It spun out again and went over the side of a bridge. The car hit the ground below nose first. I screamed and without hesitation jumped. The jump should have killed me or at least broken both of my legs. I was lucky. I was fine. I opened the rear passenger door. The guy was there. Crumpled. Bloody. I yelled his name. He opened his eyes. He slowly moved every limb and declared nothing broken. We moved to the front of the car. We couldn't get Tony or the woman to wake up. They were pinned between the seats and the dash. They were breathing...
I got out my phone and dialed 911. It didn't go through. He tried on his phone. It didn't go through. We saw buildings off in the distance and started to walk towards them, screaming for help. We were ignored more often than not, with a few people stopping to nod and smile at us. There were only men in this town. They all looked rougher than rough around the edges. Some of them saw us and licked their lips. I recall one man in particular, his shock of salt and pepper hair styled up in a crazy attempt at a pompadour. He had on a slate grey jumpsuit, the top unzipped and tied at his waist, and a white tee with the sleeve folded up around a pack of cigarettes. He was standing in front of a chain link gate, smiling broadly at me. His teeth shined in the sun. He reminded me of a wolf, lean and hungry.
The buildings around us looked to all be large warehouses, save one small convenience shop. We walked into the shop and asked to use the phone. I dialed 911. The phone was finally answered. On the other end of the line was music, old big band music playing a happy little ditty. I screamed and screamed into the phone. The clerk took the phone back and said "miss, look where you are. Ain't no one gonna help you here." And then I woke up.
*there was a lot more involved during this part of the dream, but they aren't relevant to the rest of the dream sequence.
