We brought home our beagle from surgery the other day.I feel bad that I can't let her do the things she loves most like playing, jumping and running, but it's only two weeks that she has to stay calm. We're thinking of adopting another dog from the scpca, a beautiful liver spot dalmation. She's 7 years old and sadly has heartworm.Dogs like that are often put to...

We brought the beagle home last night. She is the sweetest thing ever.A bundle of energy too, we went for two one hour walks/jogs last night. We decided to name her Cate(pronounced katie) after Hecate, dogs are sacred to her.She didn't like any of the toys we bought her, but she did like playing with an old stuffed animal of mine. You can tell she has a hunting instinct.After...

"Liberal who wants economic freedom"?... Yeah, I can buy that.
How's the pup adapting to the new home?

You never bothered responding to my response. I am intrigued.

We gave up on the idea of going to a breeder for a boston terrier, and opted to adopt from the spca instead. We go to pick her up today. She's a beagle with the most beautiful brown eyes. She was found as a strat nursing two puppies. Both the puppies have been adopted. She was, we're told, very protective of the female pup.Fortunately one of the voulenteers there adopted...

This last Halloween was our first wedding anniversary. We are so lame, our day consisted of going out to lunch, going out to dinner and renting playstation2.We had a blast though. Our gift to each other is going to be a dog. We're in the process of looking for a puppy now, we're leaning towards a Boston Terrier.

boston terriers are great dogs. good luck finding your pup.

I DO listen to Rush. They were great at Staples Center. Zeppelin were good for their time, but even them AND Rush would seem outdated with Dream Theater around. Just in terms of technical skill, that is.

I am, though guilty of this same sin, amazed at the amount of people who take themselves so seriously. Once an Angel told me a secret, and wile I'm unwilling to reveal it, let me just say laugh. Laugh long loud and hard. Especially at yourself. Self ridicule is the only safeguard against stagnation. Remember we are all talking monkeys. A man can achieve greatness...

This last Sunday Cartoon Network showed and old episode of Space Ghost Coast To Coast. The Ramones were on it and my wife didn't wake me up-sigh-.Anywhoo Zorak (if you aren't familiar w/ the show knowing who zorak is still won't make you understand how cool this was) said the Ramones were his favorite band. The whole thing has prompted a Ramones binge on my...

Have you ever heard of Mainstream or the Top 40 Pop Charts? Well, that is the societal consensus as to what popular and good music is, that is why I think that bands like Current 93 are obscure.. Frankly, I don't give a fuck if you don't like them... Why don't you do a little experiment & ask random people on the street if they know who C93 is and then you'll know what I mean by obscure.
slightpressureok:
Well, speaking as one of the (*sigh*) older folks, I think there are at least two things going on.

First is a reflexive, youthful predilection to be contrary. Kind of the "What are you rebelling against?" "What have you got?" effect. I think that drives -in large part- many of the anti-globalization protesters as well their American self-hatred. It's hard to see how this drives the Carter lovefest we've seen, other than he's not the current president.

Second, most people in their 20's (and particularly those who have remained cloistered in universities) have formed opinions from that peculiar perspective. In many colleges the liberal orthodoxy goes unchallenged; freedom of speech does not protect conservative dissent. The natural tendency to be compassionate and trusting hasn't been tempered by life from another point of view.

I hate to come across as condescending; it's not my intention. I really enjoy the people around this site, more than most of my -aack- older contemporaries.

Oh, yeah. And the hot, nekkid chicks!

Lately I have been dreaming of people and places from what was the happiest time in my childhood.Though sadly short these days have taken on a mythical quality for me and I treasure each memory. With age they seem to fade but these dreams were heart breakingly beautiful. The scenes which were just memories were so vivid.I could even hear the conversations people were having.I used to...

Thank doG for childhood memories. I think without them I would be a corpse, and I never would have figured out who I was if I hadn't had them to look back on.

I think you deserve an award for being the only person to recognize my 'house of leaves' reference. It's actually my favorite book, though I have a sneaking suspicion I forgot to put it on my evil little profile...

THis is an excerpt from my live journal bio which i think will suffice for a first journal entry:

I'm a Capricorn. For all of you out there that know what that means..and how typical my behavior is for a capricorn keep in mind my knowledge of astrology (not to mention interest) can be summed up this way: The goat/fish thing looks pretty nifty. Every...

If you're a conservative, I wonder what a liberal is? The two distinctions are for shit anyway, as 'conservative' seems to reffer to people who who are very selfish and stupid, and 'liberal' seems to reffer to people who are very angry and stupid. I am, however, curious as to how one would be a conservative (in the sane sense of the word) chaote and Cthulhu lover. Most of your 'conservative' brethren would probably love to see you deported or jailed or executed, though they'll never have the clout to get it done, thank monkey. Also, I'd like to briefly address the astrology thing. My problem with what you say about it is that your opinion seems to be based on what people, and maybe books, have said on the subject. My response is that people tend to be stupid, and books are written by people. The astrological sighns are much like tarot cards in that their meanings are highly amorphous, a concept which should be familiar to any chaote. Using most of the available books on astrology is much like looking up God in the dictionary, the answer provided is embarrasingly insufficient. Anyway, I'm not actually saying it's right, just that is does seem to have some sort of substance. I'll go now.

Well truth be told if pressed for a political label i'd pick libertarian..but i am conservative compared to most of the people I associate w/ a point which in retrospect isn't very clear from this entry.I'm aware that astrology isn't completely worthhless nor is it in my opinion that worthwhile.See Peter Carrolls meanderings on astrology. Thanks for responding to my journal entry though it's cool to know people are reading it.-Sammael
