Well, apart from yesterday and today, I've had a decent few days (and explanation for the last two days will be forthcoming...).
So, it started on Friday. I was in no mood really to go out - tired from work and I didn't think I could streatch to Friday and Saturday out, so I stayed in. I chatted to a few friends online over a few beers and posted on a music forum where I'm a regular.
Well, the conversation on there got pretty personal - but everyone was in such a good mood that no one cared what they were saying and secrets were told etc. etc - and we've become better friends because of it.
Friday started off talking about breakups etc. and once I'd got in from a long walk in the sun on Saturday morning - which was bookended by cold showers and had to incorporate a visit to a shop to get some deodorant, most of the others were back on the forum and we just started talking about our flats, clothes and other everyday thinsg - photos posted.
Went out quite late to meet a friend and also someone from the forum mentioned that I've known for a good few years. What a night!! It was fantastic - I was drunk when I went out, but once I got to the club I'd already decided not to drink anymore, so it was bottled water and the odd Pepsi. And, as per usual I danced like a total maniac. Chatted to my exes youngest sister as well as lots of other good friends I'd not seen for a while. Brilliant night...except during Dinosaur Jr's "Freak Scene" near the end of the night I was doing my usual over-enthusiastic dancing, jumped, landed, and twisted my right knee.
Pain seared right through my leg, but it seemed just to be a minor twist. I hobbled out of the club and met up with my friends. Hung around there for a bit, and I decided that my knee was fine and I hobbled home.
I got back, and was still a little sore - took some painkillers and removed my trainers - whichare pretty tight.
Thats when I started to get cramp in my calf and in the sole of my foot. I would cramp up, cry in pain, then it would subside, and return in 10-15 minutes. This was not due to lack of fluid, salt or sugar - I had made sure that I drank the right liquids all night.
I had been due to go to the park with some friends on Sunday, but I was still cramping up for most of Sunday daytime - less frequently though. But, I took my mind off it by going back on the forum where the talk now went onto sex - virginity, good sex, bad sex, odd sex etc. It was quite revealing but fun and it took my mind off the pain.
Still, a sleepless night followed, the cramps returned and come 8.00am this morning, and with a calf that had been cramped for a full 20 minutes without let up, I had to call into work in tears to tell them that there was no way I could work today. I think they very much believed me.
I tried to get some sleep, but it was pretty difficult with the pain and the noise from the shop below me, so I got up and have been doing cold and warm compression couple with a few physio exercises. Booked a doctors appointment for Friday and just worked on getting the cramp to go away.
After going on for 40 hours, I'd finally had 3 hours without any cramp and I'm just hoping I can get back into work tomorrow. Whether I can make it through the day without breaking down in pain is another matter.
I have a feeling that it is ligament and tendon damage that stems from a bike accident 9 years ago - but I'll see what the doctor says. All I know is that I don't want to go through physical and debilitating pain like that again.
Oh well. Good things and bad things!!!
