I could say that I've got excuses for my total lack of updates recently, but to be 100% honest, I don't. Well, except that sometimes the day has been so boring that there isn't anything that I could possibly say to make it exciting - without lying and creating some kind of double life for myself. Now, there's a thought......
Monday to Thursday created a feeling of cabin fever - work, home, stay in, sleep, repeat. It wasn't particulary exciting, just formulaic. I was far too tired to do anything meaningful - didn't even manage to do any writing or photo manipulation. Normally, I'd call this laziness. For the purpose of this argument, I'll just say that I couldn't tune my brain into "creative" mode. It was stuck in neutral.
Thursday night I got some beers in as I was off on Friday - and was a little worse for wear come the morning. I had to shower, pack, and get my head together for the journey up to my sisters for her birthday. In all that, I nearly forgot to message her Happy Birthday (I'd have called, but she runs a very busy sandwich shop).
I left on time, did all the things I needed to do before catching the train. The journey was a smooth, but the friend I was supposed to be meeting in Manchester called me to say she'd been caught up in meetings in Milan and was getting a later flight back. So, that meant I had a couple of hours to do nothing in Manchester as my sister was working until 6.00pm.
So, it was beer in the sunshine in front of an outdoor screen showing tennis for the spare two hours. Met up with my sister after catching another train to Rochdale where she lives, and it was up to her caravan on the hills. We were already going to Manchester that night, but her fiancee was goijng to drive....but decided he wanted to drink, so said he'd pay for a taxi to the train station and the taxi home. Fair enough we thought.
We got into Manchester and went for a fantastic Japanese meal (not sushi though), before going to a very late showing of Sin City which was totally fantastic. After that we made the mistake of getting a private hire taxi off the street.....it was us 45GBP - which is about 80USD - all that for a 15 mile journey. Daylight robbery, but I kind of expected it. Still, I wasn't paying for it!
The next day we just did a bit of shopping, watched Dodgeball and then my sisters friends came round for a few drinks and dinner. We walked down to the pub at 10.15 for what we thought would be last orders, but instead got invited to stay for the 2.00am lock-in, by which point we were VERY drunk. My sisters friends got a taxi (a cheaper one!) back home, and we walked the kilometre up the hill back to my sisters caravan. In pitch darkness. With sheep making noises.
Surprisingly, there were little in the way of hangovers yesterday, but there was a huge amount of lethargy. Any thoughts about filming were thrown out the window as the heads on the camera were dirty for some reason and they hadn't yet bought a cleaning kit. So, after seeing to my Grandma and Grandad and fixing them up some dinner, we just lazed around doing nothing until we went to the pub for dinner.
Up at 6.00am this morning, and back home.
I AM TOTALLY SHATTERED!
But it was worth it to see my little sis!
