i'm dropping science...
today I'm repping with the Rockism argument. My friend Sasha wrote a piece a while ago that Julianne and I ended up discussing yesterday. The idea that the majority of the music industry is coming from a school of thought that gives more validty to people that play guitars (and drums etc) than people who create pop music without those things ( a la Justin Timberlake)....this in essence is Rockism. Good music is good music... i don't give a fuck how its made just let me hear it....why is a DJ or a proTools constructed beat or Christina Aguleira any less valid than Sleater-Kinney. Its not... It also makes reference to the idea that in rock circles there is this weird tendency to discredit any underground (read indie) band that has any overground success...( Modest Mouse on MTV anyone) anyway...read the article its hella fascinating if you are into that sort of thing
