There are times when I'm really questioning about my future as an artist. I've had a lot recently, but I've also made a lot of revelations lately to counteract my worries.
I've never seen myself soley as an artist. My main goal in life is be a writer. That is what I aspire to be. I would love to also illustrate my short stories, others stories, illustrate things for bands, etc. I can see myself creating collages and paintings and drawings on the side, but never as my career. I want to have boutiques with handmade goods, art, and vintage finds. I want to embrace my eccentricness and love of all things retro. I want to share my musical tastes and talent for finding new sounds with everyone.
I've been considering becoming an art critic. I think my Concepts class has a lot to do with this idea. I may not say a lot in class (mostly because I feel like everything I say is twisted around by the teacher) but I have all of these words just bursting through my mind when I look at all of this work that my peers have created.
With my extreme love for modern art, I think that I could provide a fresh, relatable review of art shows for people to read and really understand. No hoity-toity, snooty art shit. Real art shit.
But I'm not even 21 yet...and I'm going to be in college forever...it never hurts to dream.
