a scenario, complete with some words of wisdom. let's assume, for a moment that we have hubby husband and wifey wife. perhaps hubby works in retail and wifey is a teacher. it is, maybe, the last workday before xmas and wifey knows that hubby will come home tired and fussy. so, during the day, she cleans the house, takes care of the baby, and happens to put together most of a dinner for him so that he's got something warm when he comes home.
hubby eats the dinner, managing in that 20 minutes to point out all of the things that he would have preferred to be some other way.
so now you have the scenario, i will offer my words of wisdom regarinding this clearly purely hypothetical scenario: if you can't find something nice to say, at least say THANK YOU!

it's xmas eve morning, absolutely all the presents are bought and wrapped, there's a plate of cookies on the table for santa, the house smells like bacon, and sophie actually only got me up twice last night so i'm reasonably well rested.
whatever your personal situation and whatever holiday you celebrate (or don't, even), know that i'm thinking of you fondly today and that i hope you have the absolute best headed your way. whether it's a rowdy christmas with kids and a big tree, a quiet dinner with a loved one, or some quality tv time - i hope you have moments of peace that make you happy.
