WARNING! Political type rant ahead... you may be offended or think I'm a dumbass...your problem.
In this time of great choices that we have to make as a people I have a few thoughts. Politics are for followers, not leaders I vote for me.
Part of me welcomes the failing of capitalist America. I think few of you may see this as a horrible statement however I would like to see it as the statement of a realist. From the years of 27 BC to 312 AD the Roman Empire ruled much of Europe and its waters, however it fell. We are still a young and unwise Republic (Yes Republic, not a Democracy as we would like to fool ourselves into believing.) and our mistakes within our society may be that which leads to our downfall.
Once upon a time in this country our leaders were men of honor, men that we could look upon with trust. These were men that would rise and fight and put their blood and sweat into that which they believed in. Men that would sacrifice their own health and safety for what we believe in.
In this day and age things are very different. We have men (or this is the term I will use for them at this time) that fight the good fight through paper and meetings. Men that break a sweat on their daily jog. These men are the leaders of big business, or lawyers ( Lawyers, people the common man would rarely trust). They respond to threats of other nations by sending out other men to fight for them. They sit in air-conditioned offices and sign paper work and talk on phones while, men, are fighting their wars and battles for them. In fact these men that are our leaders now dont even have the courage that the men who once lead our land had. The men of the past stood proudly alone and spoke to the people, without thought that they may die for their beliefs, because they would gladly have done so. The men that lead us now are surrounded by entourages and secret service men. The men that serve under our leaders are much more willing to put their lives at stake for our country than our own leaders. The reason for this? Because our leaders dont believe in our country. They believe in filling their pockets and half empty promises. They believe in capitalist ideas and are supported by big business on their way up.
But this guy is all right, he wants what I want. That is a statement people make about candidates, but really does he? Or do you believe that because somewhere along the way you just kind of gave in like the rest of us? Did you ever stop to think about the man you are voting for? I mean really think about him? (I would say her, however in the Christian society we are in that may not be a possibility) Does he represent Middle America or the common man? Really? How can a lawyer, a senator, a CEO, or a man that was raised by a former President know anything about the common man? How could they even grasp the idea of the life of Middle or Lower Class America? Think about that. They cant. Anyone can read about it or remember once upon a time when they were, however they have no grasp upon anything common. After you are accustom to a certain way of life for so long, you dont really remember the way it was. You arent really in touch with the way you were. Those are distant memories and the man you are now is what is most important to the people.
So many people may think that I would rather have a bricklayer run America, hmmm yeah maybe. Why? Look at a man who does that job. He wakes up early and works hard all day. Sure at the end of the day he may go have a few beers, but he has integrity. He works hard for his family, he honors them and himself by putting pride in his work, and obviously only a man of action does labor. I understand in this day and age we are not the same as we were once upon a time, but we did that to ourselves. We turned The United States into a business with a USA labeled trademark, I for one would like to see it turn back into a country. I would like to see pride in the American people not because we unite together due to tragedy, but because we can finally believe in something again, ourselves.

Bravo!!! I agree. Integrity & honor are two characteristics lacking in today's society. Not just in our political "leaders". My closest friends have those characteristics & I admire them far more than the majority of people I see in the public limelight. I think our country needs some serious reforms!
