Weapons of Mass Destruction:

The common dogma [of fundamentalists] is fear of modern knowledge, inability to cope with the fast change in a scientific-technological society, and the real breakdown in apparent moral order in recent years.... That is why hate is the major fuel, fear is the cement of the movement, and superstitious ignorance is the best defense against the dangerous new knowledge. ... When you bring up arguments that cast serious doubts on their cherished beliefs you are not simply making a rhetorical point, you are threatening their whole Universe and their immortality. That provokes anger and quite frequently violence. ... Unfortunately you cannot reason with them and you even risk violence in confronting them. Their numbers will decline only when society stabilizes, and adapts to modernity...

A myth, is a religion in which no one any longer believes.

Happiness is relative to all individuals. While there are many who share certain ideas on what happiness is, there are many who stand alone in their specific beliefs.
Those individuals, should be free to pursue realistic personal happiness within their doors and in the public streets, without having to worry about the beliefs of the surrounding community.
And that includes those you have brought into this world.

I don't hate religion. I disagree with it's necessity, but i don't hate it.

What i hate is organised religion. And defining yourself as 'catholic' or 'Islamic', doesn't necessarily make you a part of organised religion.
I hate when a simple personal belief, becomes a gang. And the gang becomes an army of dogma.

I don't see why the world needs to conform to one single belief.
Or depend on the beliefs of others, to motivate growth and comfort within themselves.
And even though i don't understand why people need religion; I am stedfastly opposed to their need to spread their respective belief to all of society. And that of others to convince the world, that theirs, is the one true religion.

Organised religion is odd in the sense, that it is one of the few enities, that sees people living freely, as a threat to them.
They attempt to spread out and convert, but then fiegn attack when people ask "why?"....
No one goes into a church, and shouts down the preacher with arguments of logic.
But when the preacher stands on the corner to preach, he should expect that there are those who will preach back.
It is well for them to understand, that silent action makes louder the words you preach. And coercion destroys them all-together.

My beliefs are summed up, ironically, by a religious icon;
This is my simple religion:
There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy.
Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.
- Dali Lama

I do not see the need for religion. But i understand that some people do.
And i am fine with that. As long as it is not a religion of crusades.

I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called
an agnostic. I do not pretend to know, where many ignorant men are sure
-- that is all that agnosticism means.

EDIT: who else fucking loves the fact that Rob Corddry is on the site now?!
