I've come to the realisation that i work a crappy job. For just enough money to survive, in a crappy place, with no distinct possibility that it will change anytime in the near future.
But i don't like to be one of those people that complain and never do anything about it.
And with this city's rare gift of being able to bleed my savings away, why go through the stress of finding a new place, a new job?
So since tuesday, me and my good friend Skully, have been planning a remedy.
And i have dubbed it The Great Spanish Adventure.
Mainly because the target is Spain....and it is an adventure.
We are going on a road trip across Canada. Then down through most of the Eastern United States, looping back to Toronto. From Toronto we are off to Ireland. There we will spend some time getting organised, and then we ferry over to Scotland, down through England (skipping Wales), through the dover tunnel into France. Through all the good parts of France, And into Spain to Barcelona or Valencia (wink wink).
Spain is our end point, but quite possibly not the end of the journey.
In Spain is where we are setting our "base". As Toronto is our base in America, Spain is our one in Europe.
It's were we will store our stuff, live and work, explore the country, etc.
But when we are there, we will decide if we want to stop permanently, or continue on Operation Beyond. Which will take us through Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, Mongolia, China(?), India, South East Asia, Etc.
But in reality, any stop along the route could be a permanent stop if we like it enough. The goal is not to travel the world, blah blah blah. It's to do whatever we want. We just hope to see nice things, meet new people along the way. And hopefully some beautiful spanish women......
This is the first leg of our journey.
It's a drive across Canada, coast to coast, and the first half of the American tour.
It just maps the main route, but there will of course be deviations to see people we know, or to meet new ones.
Nothing on this trip is set in stone. We just made a basic route, so that there is a plan to follow if we need it.
We've got sleep stops, minor stops and major stops all along the way. Minor is a day or two, Major is a week or more. Sleep is anything from small town to side of the road.
We aren't staying in any hotels. But we got the toilet/shower situation covered. We've found tons of them along the way. Hopefully we might also get the occasional couch or outside porch to sleep on if we are nice enough to people.

we are leaving september 17th.
If you're along the way, say so, and we'll put your town into our itinerary to say hi and take some pictures. Even if you're in the same province/state. We're going all over the place.
That's all for now. But more to come later.
