GRE in 2 weeks. Study, study, study. Sometimes I think I'm getting too old for this.
I suppose I will appreciate all my efforts if I actually get accepted into a PhD program. Otherwise, I may have to sulk for a bit before figuring out what to do next.
All this studying and application stuff has made me barely even notice that it is the holiday season. If I start thinking about that now, I may give myself a stroke!
Running would probably help me relax, but it is super dark when I leave for work and by the time I get home. Damn you, daylight savings. All training is postponed until after the GRE anyway. That will give me just under 3 months to prepare for the rescheduled Pasadena marathon. If I'm feeling saucy, I may even run Surf City in February. We'll just have to wait and see what my energy level and wallet tell me. Registrations are too expensive to pay if I'm not going to have a good run.
In other news, seems like everyone on here is talking about the death of Bettie Page.
The woman was in her 80's and struggled her entire life with many issues such as mental illness and childhood abuse. Death is a sad thing, but I feel hopeful that her soul has finally found peace.

Oh, say, I've been getting back into running this last fall, pausing a bit these cold winter months until I can find some good warm running clothes. I run 10k pretty regularly and up to 14k or so. I know that's not even near a half marathon, but I was wondering what you think. Is it a stretch to go from there to marathon training? I mean, I'd imagine that working up to a 10k from scratch again is harder than upping that to real distances. Any advice?
Well, I hope you're doing well. And I never thanked you for that nice card you sent for my meager sponsorship. I couldn't believe it! You're maybe the most considerate person I know! I can't think of anyone else who would go to such lengths as mailing cards.
I'm done for real now. Be well and be good!
