Dmuff and I have been super tired and in a bit of a rut, so we decided to take advantage of all the stuff there is to do in LA and try something different every weekend.
We kicked it off yesterday with a trip to LACMA. Although a few floors in a couple of buildings were closed for renovation, we still ended up staying there for about 5 hours. It was quite fun and inspiring. I'm even thinking about going to my storage unit and getting my oil pastels and paper.
After that, we drove to Olvera Street.. It was awesome. It reminded me of a clean version of the mercados in Juarez that my dad used to take me to when I was a kid. I absolutely love all the Mexican folk art, and there were tons of catrinas (my favorite), tin crafts, and everything else you could imagine. We also bought obleras, maranitos, vero mango lollipops, cookies, and a super yummy dinner. I even had some horchata. I don't think I had had that since about 97, before I moved to LA. I loved Olvera St. and can't wait to go back.
We both had a really good time and are looking forward to next weekend.
Since I picked yesterday's destination, Dmuff gets to pick next week's. Why do I have a feeling that next Saturday will end in a shot of vodka and a lap dance?
