Every once in a while, it occurs to me that I tend to overwhelm myself with activity. Strangely, it seems that I also subconsciously find a way to arrange my activities so that everything comes to a climax at the same time.

These past three weeks flashed by in a whirlwind of events.

Brace yourself. It's going to be a long blog.

The big move...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

After a lovely Thanksgiving with Dmuff, swearergirl, Shawndaddy and his family, Dmuff and I drove to San Dimas and worked our butts off getting me all packed and moved out of my apartment.

This was no easy feat. It seems that when you live in the same place for 6 years, you accumulate a great deal of crap. I gave away, and trashed, about 60% of what I owned.

Then came the hard part. The past six years have been filled with many highs and lows. The one thing I always managed to hold onto, the one constant in my life, was my home. It became my sanctuary, but eventually it became my bubble.

So, after everything was cleared and cleaned, I lingered for a few minutes and said goodbye not only to my apartment, but to a lifestyle that I am way too young for.

I let go of my silly bubble and only allowed myself to look forward.

School...

Then came finals week at school. I was tired and grumpy for about 10 days. (God bless Dmuff for his patience) Two papers, one power point, one poster presentation, and two finals later, the quarter was over on Wednesday evening.

Hawaii and the Marathon...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Thursday, after work, I stayed up and caught up on laundry, cleaning, etc, and then packed my stuff for Hawaii. Dmuff got home from work around 4am, and by 5:30, we were catching a cab to LAX.

After 6 months of training, it was finally marathon time! Hawaii was amazing.

We stayed on the 24th floor of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. The view was gorgeous!

I was super excited! Dmuff had a cold.

But he didn't let it slow him down, and we had tons of fun.

Sunday morning, I was up by 2:30am, getting ready for the marathon.

We started at 5am, and the weather was already hot and humid, making it almost impossible for us to stay hydrated. Then, somewhere between mile 7 and 8, I busted my left knee really badly. I also had to stop twice along the course to help a couple of my teammates who got ill during the run. But somehow I managed to keep going and only lost about 30 minutes, with these unexpected hurdles. My time was not as good as I wanted, but I'm pretty proud of myself for not giving up and for helping my friends when they needed me.

I can't wait until next year, to do it again. The experience and the memories are treasures.

So what's next? PhD program applications and the LA marathon on March 4, 2007!!

Until next time!
wink
