Wow, it's been such a harsh winter in so many places.
I, on the other hand, live in Los Angeles. This weekend looks to be sunny and in the mid-70s.

Can't wait to escape to LV and SF

Thanks, Sally. The good news is that power is back in my town. I can, it seems, go back home. The funny thing, of course, is that now I don't want to even despite the dramatics.
(We need a run challenge.)

We had our cable cut off this week. As far as priorites, it was lowest on the list, so it's gone.
I have to admit, I am actually enjoying it.
I'm sitting in the living room, across from my sleeping kitty. The blinds are open, exposing the grey sky and light drizzle. The natural light coming in is dull and calm. I'm listening to the...

I survived the GRE, the holidays, and a crumby cold. (See, this is why I think I'm Wolverine...)
It's is such a relief to have things back to "normal." Now it's time to get back to my thesis project, work and running.
My next marathon is the rescheduled inaugural Pasadena Marathon in March, so I have plenty of time to get back in shape. I...

GRE in 2 weeks. Study, study, study. Sometimes I think I'm getting too old for this.
I suppose I will appreciate all my efforts if I actually get accepted into a PhD program. Otherwise, I may have to sulk for a bit before figuring out what to do next.
All this studying and application stuff has made me barely even notice that it is the...

Hey, if you can run marathons, you can put this GRE in it's place. Yeah, just don't let the holidays add too much hurt.
Oh, say, I've been getting back into running this last fall, pausing a bit these cold winter months until I can find some good warm running clothes. I run 10k pretty regularly and up to 14k or so. I know that's not even near a half marathon, but I was wondering what you think. Is it a stretch to go from there to marathon training? I mean, I'd imagine that working up to a 10k from scratch again is harder than upping that to real distances. Any advice?
Well, I hope you're doing well. And I never thanked you for that nice card you sent for my meager sponsorship. I couldn't believe it! You're maybe the most considerate person I know! I can't think of anyone else who would go to such lengths as mailing cards.
I'm done for real now. Be well and be good!

I'm currently freaking out about taking the GRE. I decided to go ahead and apply for grad school for next year, but my previous GRE scores are expired. Now, at 31 years of age, I have to go back and take a standardized test will will show the universities that although I am quite the math genious, I have the vocabulary of a 14 year...

My laptop is such a dinosaur. I don't even turn it on very often because my lack of patience makes me want to pull my hair out when I'm waiting for anything to load.

I'm up early but decided not to run today. I'm thinking about going to the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center and donating.
There was a bad accident in the LA area yesterday.
Happy 4th, everyone.
I have so many things that I want to get done and can't seem to find the right combination of motivation and time to do them. Thank goodness for national holidays like today. I have no plans and no money. This is the perfect formula for being lazy and wasting time, but I am going to try my best to get things...

As a caveat to that: at least in Arizona, if you've gotten tattoed/pierced at a state-certified and licensed shop or artist, it doesn't need to be 12 months.
Disneyland 1/2 Marathon tomorrow.
I know it's kind-of gay, but I'm still excited. I've never run a half marathon before and the idea of running anything less than 26.2 miles seems like a piece of cake.

I took the day off from running today. I thought it would be nice to sleep past 5am for a change. Unfortunately, my kitty cat didn't get the memo and did his best to get me up. Now he's sleeping on the couch while I sip on some coffee and watch a documentary called "Punishment" on the History Channel.
