on the daily show yesterday dwight yoakum (sp??) said that he read a new york times article describing how, now that the dog genome project is well underway, it's been discovered that our closest genetic relatives are not apes as we had thought but rather dogs.
this explains why my chihuahua and i look so astoundingly similiar, including our unusually disproportionate endowments.
in all honesty, dwight yoakum of course isn't the most reliable source of science news, and i haven't been able to confirm the existence of this article. but i have been able to find a few places online that talk about the extreme similiarity between humans and dogs for purposes of medical study...somehow i think it has more to do with genetic similiarity in general and not specific evolutionary relation via a close common ancestor.
dogs dogs dogs.

Dwight Yoakum has some decent tunes too. Some of his songs have these great bass lines.
Dogs are a lot like people. Needy, loud, obnoxious, yet sweet, loving and heart warming.
