My appendix is dead.
Vive le appendix! Injuries this year thus far:
Late Dec/Early January: Ulnar nerve palsey and severe carpal tunnel syndrome on right hand.
Mid February: Three severe cat bites on my right pinky, ring and middle finger. Two bites and a deep scratch on palm and side of right hand. Cat was my mother's hefty fella' Bushi (who thinks he's a dog) that had just lost the top two inches of his tail to a door jam pinch and was reluctant to get into his carrier.
Early March: One mild cat bite on left hand that developed cellulitis (a fancy name for Cat Scratch Fever) *cue heavy guitar chords* Required hospital stay of three days and lots of IV antibiotics.
Mid March: Appendicitus! Antiobiotics from cat scratch fever masked symptoms and inflamation, required a cat scan (ironically) in order to diagnose and then pop, suck and zip...that was the surgery, not the oral sex I devoutly prayed the attractive P.M. nurse would provide.
I am almost fully recovered now, with a few more scars and the general feeling that nothing worse can happen anytime soon.
Humane Society job goes well. Am managing to help keep us with a safe number of empty cages in preperation for the spring neonate rush (when all the kittens come in and are packed, literally, floor to ceiling.) It's the snuggliest time of the year.
I think it will also be the saddest. Not nearly enough of the older cats will be able to find homes and our resources will shrink exponentially with every new litter. I'm afraid I will loose some new friends...
Anyone want a cat? Two? We've got some real charmers...
