I'm just gonna go on one of my rants here. This whole gay marriage thing is just a smoke screen issue to distract us from bigger things. Well since we're on this issue anyway, the main arguement I hear against gay marriage is that "god created adam and eve not adam and steve" or "the sacredness of marriage is between a man and a woman" or "the definition of marriage is union between a man and a woman" which to me shows that no one against gay marriage can actually uphold a solid FACT based reason way gays shouldn't be aloud to marry. They describe themselves as "traditionalists" that "fear for the most fundamental institution of civilization".
Well here I go now. As for the adam and steve thing, that's just what people who say they support the bible say, if they really supported the bible well then please give me an ACTUAL line from the "good book". Plus the bible has no grounds for effecting the creation of law! Whatever a person does on this earth is between them and god and no one can speak for him. Judge not least ye be judge. Sacredity of marriage? We live in a nation where 50% of marriages end in divorce, a nation with drive-thru chapels that provide this "sacred service" in 5 mins or less, a nation with shows like "who wants to marry a millionare", the sacredity of marriage died out long ago if you ask me.
The definition of marriage thing? That's my favorite. In the history of america the definition of marriage has changed a few times already. In revolutionary times, a wife effectively became her husbands property, with few rights of her own. In slaveholding states, during the civil war era, slaves, including freed slaves, were not allowed to marry. As recently as 1967, several states refused to recognize mixed marriages! At the times stated those were considered the definition of marriage, and they changed because people in those times relized how wrong it was and they set out to make it right. The same is happening now and it's being met with "traditionalists" like all those times before, but like all those times before the definition of marriage will change because it's the right thing to do.
That's my rant. Now you all know how I feel and now I'm done with this issue and I don't wanna hear back unless you can provide some FACT based reason proving I'm wrong.

[PS: I love political conversations with strangers. Unfortunatley, I don't oppose your position, else I'd start this shit up. ]
