So, I did this awesome hike a couple days ago. First things first; a couple friends and I are training for a 75 mile endurance race coming up in the middle of May. We are training pretty hard for this thing and are very excited to take part in it. Anyways, this hike I did was 14 miles round trip. It is located in Red Rock Park.
To get to the main hike called Bridge Mountain (which is only 5 miles round trip) you must 4X4 up this dirt trail for about 5 miles. I opted to put the miles in and climb the switchback and extremely rocky road. About an hour and a half later I made it to the trailhead of Bridge Mountain. Oh no, the climbing is not even done. The total elevation of this hike is about 6500 feet, with about an elevation gain of about two thousand feet from beginning to end. I got a couple nose bleeds along the way. the last mile or so of this hike is scary as hell in some parts. The wind is howling, and if your not careful you can get blown off the side of the mountain and drop a couple thousand feet. No big deal! This hike takes you way above the snow line. Throughout the hike I came across snow patches and melting snow. This hike is not for the faint of heart and I almost shit my pants a couple times because of the drop offs and steepness of the climbing. The view and picturesque of the rocks and mountains make it all worth while though.
Forgive me for the pictures of myself. I had to play photographer and subject at the same time, not easy. As you can tell, it was very windy, which didn't make taking the photos any easier. I just wanted to share some photos of this amazing hike I did, hope you enjoy them. Check them out in my Hiking Album!!!
