My boss did something really nice for me tonight. It kind of blew me away. I am not used to owners or managers doing nice things. Usually they are busy stressing me out and making my life miserable. There are two brothers that own the place i work at. One is kind of a dick but one seems very nice. The nice one was working tonight and early he handed me the papers i had to have them fill out so i can turn them in to human services for my foodstamps. At the end of the night the servers give me their tip out. It's not much between 2 and 4 bucks from each server and there is usually only 2 or 3 servers during the week. So they gave me their tipout and my boss comes up and says "if your finished cleaning up everything you can go" I was kinda bummed because it was only 8:30. I would have liked to get in a few more hours. Well as i was resetting the last few tables he comes up and hands me 20 dollars and says "here this is a little something out of my own pocket to help you out" That was so fricking nice of him!! I guess he felt bad because i was applying for food stamps. It was really awesome though. It meant a lot to me that he did that. It isn't often employers give a shit about their employees these days.

My uncle has been researching our genealogy for over twenty years, with many trips to Europe (mostly France and Germany). He compiled two huge volumes full of records and photographs, in some cases going back as far as the 1600s. It's fascinating stuff for the right kind of nerd. Like me, for instance
