3/5 What do you do to empower women?
🖤
I've worked with many women as a photographer (years ago) doing boudoir photography. I was actually inspired by SuicideGirls when I started taking pictures for friends. Thereis something so incredibly powerful (as I know many of you know) about a woman who can stand up strong, go against societies "normal" and take control over her sexuality. Women are beautiful and need to be celebrated and respected as sexual beings. I really credit SuicideGirls for giving me that strength and molding that mentality for me (I'm not kissing ass. I really mean it!) . I have been able to help others overcome fears and become comfortable in their own skin because of that. I am also finding comfort in my own skin a little more every day.
I've also worked closely with other woman shortly after childbirth. I've coached and counselled many strong women as they have become familiar with their new bodies. I've walked many women through the ups and downs of breastfeeding as well as acknowledging postpartum depression and anxiety. Women are very frequently forgotten about following child birth and are expected to proceed with life as if their life didn't just change tremendously. My responsibility is to help the mother move through this transition and encourage her to accept help and voice any needs she may have. This is empowering for many women because so many feel like the world is on their shoulders.
If I can help one person, I know that my influence may inspire that person to pay it forward. This is how we change the world. 🖤
Women are beautiful and powerful beings! We will continue kicking ass a little more every single day! 🖤
