Anyone else ever gone through a phase where their life feels like an arena of small but frequent humiliations?

Hah! Well, sure, I suppose. But what I'm talking about is an energy-sapping barrage of small bullshits and aggravatingly missed opportunities. I got in my car today after work, and the dainty crack on the right side of my windshield had gone flying across at eye level under the heat of the sun. It's already marked up with conspicuous orange lettering from when it got towed, and the whole thing could use a wash, and I can't afford to buy a new car, and I don't know what my chances are of getting a loan to buy a new (used) replacement.

And the ladies. Don't get me started on the ladies. Sometimes it feels like it's all trials and tribulations.

I think what I'm getting at is that I could really use a break somewhere in my life, but life is generally apathetic about the whole deal and would rather go on a picnic without me. There's few things more demoralizing than a steady stream of polite indifference.

It can be surprisingly difficult to get a cab in this city, during the day. At no time was this more apparent than today, when I really needed a cab to get around town. You see, my truck got towed by the city for expired registration. An officer pulled me over and had it taken away on the spot, which is always kind of a...

I used to date a girl who lived in te NYC and had to get her car out of the impound yard every other weekend. On the off weekends she drove her best friend to the impound yard to get his car out.

I, on the other hand, have no car. And I probably won't until I can afford my dream car. So I can neither sympathize with you nor offer sage advice.

Am I still allowed to point and laugh?

You know, I live across the street from a gas station. As my fellow San Franciscans know, parking is a precious commodity. As it turns out, there's a long stretch of parkable sidewalk with some forgiving time constraints. Although it is at a major intersection, there are no meters. Nor is there a zoned 2-hour parking limit. All you have to do is not park...

This is why I've always felt that my people(Germans or facists, take your pick) have always had at least one thing right:

efficancy.

I can't tell you how many Saturday nights in the city have been ruined by lack of available parking because some assclown can't PULL THE FUCK UP.

that is all.

I realized the other day that it looks like I'm balding in my profile pic. This turns out not to be the case. I'll have to take some more shots, if my camera can manage to contain such studliness without exploding in extasy.

Hm, in my profile picture it probably looks like I'm balding,

then again,

I am balding. But I don't like pictures that show it.
lokischild:

Hoowee. I've been on the 'Net for a long time, from CompuServe back in the late 80s/early 90s. You'd think I would have a mountain of links and websites I go to all the time, but the truth is that I have a grand total of ten links in my links bar, and two of those are just webmail. One is a site traffic aggregator,...

Google is a strange and wicked beast sometimes. It can be like a reverse Ouija board, where it's you who spells out strange code which might or might not be understood by the receiver. Let us just say that there was a time in my past, a good time, and I was curious about where those people of that good time had gone off to....

So I just noticed that I'd misspelled my contact email. I doubt anyone here has emailed me yet, since I'm a noobie, but if you did and were wondering why I hadn't gotten back to you, that's why blush
