Fuck Yes, Obama FTW
I'm sure that SG and every other internet site out there is full of blogs like this, and I'm sure you're sick of hearing them/reading the,. But this was my first time voting ever, so I'm going to give my thoughts and praise for the outcome. Eric and I got up at like 7:50 am to get ready, and we walked to the school (that we live right across from) to cast our votes around 8:30 this morning.
I was never one to get into politics, but this year I did. For once, there is actually someone who is realistic, someone who can actually change shit, someone with an open mind, and someone who gives me hope. I was impressed by both McCain and Obama's speeches this evening, both were well done, and well articulated.
I'm very honored to be a part of such a big piece of history that my eventual kids will be reading about one day, and probably be writting reports on.
I sat there hoping the I wasn't going to see our new President Elect get shoot before my eyes, and couldn't wait for him to get off the stage...and it's really sad that I have to have this fear, but if America's voice is any indication...
I just really hope that the bigots out there actually listen rather than loading their guns, because god damn it, every time an amazing, inspirational, open minded person tries to change things for the better, some asshole shots them. And you know what, regardless if that's how it goes (which i really hope that isn't how it goes) things will still change. The anger and violence always make people open their eyes, it's just sad that that's usually what it takes.
So I'll say it again, Fuck Yes, Obama won. It's going to be a long and hard road to repave, but eventually, if no one fucks it up (including us) the job will inevitably be done.
Maybe now, the white house won't be a single running joke anymore.

I hadnt read your reasons before. I just dont see hims as being the great "realistic" president everyone is saying he will be. I laugh at the realistic part of it for the most part just because there were so many things that he said he was against but his voting in the senate shows otherwise. Eh from the many friends i have in Canada they said national health care isnt as great as it seems... And i actualy am one of the people who would need it just like you, with all of our health problems i still dont feel that NC would be great. I just feel that the mans charisma and race won him the election and not his substance... which for me makes me sad at the fact that MOST (not all) voted for him for these reasons. Im honestly happy that you put thought into your choice, its just the fact that most people have been Lets make history and vote for the minority... and that would be their only reason. i digress though even though hope is important i feel the just blind hope is misplaced, the loss of more jobs (military and small business) under obama is just going to destroy the economy more, and instead of being a mere recession it will turn into a depression... many do not understand the economic policies and military polices he has promised to put into action, but i feel that what he has proposed will just put us into the hole even farther... eh but ohwell enough discussion, i do hope though that he will be as good as what people think...
