I go to shows by myself sometimes. Usually, it's not too bad if you slip in just before they start playing. Even if you do have to sit through changing the stage. Once the music has started, people tend to pay attention to either the band or the group of people they showed up with.
I always try to catch a bit of the opening band. It's a great way to find new music. Unfortunately, I missed Lavender Diamond at Sunset Junction. I've heard good things about them.
