Well, well, well......another Monday rolls around!
Last Thursday was the day for a fresh haircut....not sure why a haircut always seems to please me so...but it does. I've had this notion to move my downstairs TV, upstairs to my bedroom....so I thought while I was in the city, I'd do a little TV shopping/price comparing for a replacement TV for downstairs. I stopped at the box stores and checked out the prices on the Sony's they had and then went to the local Sony dealer. The local store actually had better prices than the discount stores and had the latest models. I really thought I was just going to be doing some thinking and pricing, but ended up bringing a new one home with me. They were closing out one of last years models....a 42" LCD rear projection...but had the new, this year's model replacement in a 46" for only $200 more....it was a "no brainer" and I opted for the new 46" model. Technology is pretty cool sometimes. I paid less for this TV, than I paid 6 years ago for the 32 inch that I just moved upstairs to my bedroom. Now, I just got to call the satellite company to get another reciever box to go along with the TV in my bedroom.
I did my usual grocery shopping and errand running on Friday afternoon. Bumped into a guy that was a high school classmate of mine.....about 100 years ago. He was a decent friend of mine....a good guy....but after high school he left for college and then on to other things. I hadn't seen him in quite a few years, but he was back in the area to visit family. We actually had little to talk about, since our lives have been and are now so different from each others....we have little in common now. So, after about 5 minutes of the normal pleasantries, we parted ways.....kinda of sad in a way, that someone who was once such a good friend, is now relagated to just another face in the crowd. Life is mysterious sometimes.
Saturday was a nice relaxing day I guess. Not much of great importance or urgency was on my agenda, so I took the time to putter around and do some of the things that I wanted to do for myself. Around 11pm, I plopped down in my big leather chair and stuck a DVD movie in the player and watched on my new TV with surround sound.....I'm not sure why I even will need to go to a theater anymore!
Sunday was a family reunion day. Mom's side of the family gets together once a year on the second Sunday in August. It was a small gathering this year, but I kinda like it that way. Just as we were all ready to leave in the late afternoon, a huge storm blew in with heavy rain, high winds and lots of close thunder and lighting. Everyone grabbed a chair and sat down to talk some more and wait out the storm. We ended up with another nice rain out of it......the yard is definitly going to need to be mowed this week!
So, today is laundry and house cleaning day. The first load is in the washer and the vacume cleaner is waiting for me.

BTW what do you do for work?
People (around these parts anyway) who skin instead of pluck say to chill the birds for easier skinning. Since nobody really wants dead chicken smell in their freezers, they kill them on an early cold morning, and by the time they're done having breakfast they say the birds have cooled enough to skin.
We also have neigbors who, instead of gutting, skin and remove the wings/thighs/breast/butt and leave then compost the whole carcass (guts still in). What do you think about that method? I assume you gut them because you are freezing the bird whole right?
If I'm reading your post correctly, you found the cooler birds harder to skin?
Can I ask what method you used to kill your birds?
