Hmmmmmmmm.....guess I should update this thingy.

We had a nice rain in the night, last night. Almost 3/4 of an inch of much needed rain. Also, some nice thunder along with it......for some reason, thunder is very comforting to me at night.....it interrupts my sleep, but helps me sleep well at the same time.....curious.

Anyway, more rain is coming......so it will be a quiet, rainy morning here. You should see all of my flowers and plants. They are exploding with growth and blooms.....very pretty. They hay has been baled here on the home place and the pasture is looking good. The corn is a deep green.....so deep green, that it's almost black. Well, not really....but almost.

It's been pretty quiet here at the ranch this week. I spent most of an evening working on cleaning the rims on my bike. Road grime, tar and brake dust make for a nasty combination that tend to dull the cast aluminum rims. I found a product called Never Dull at Wally World, that works wonders.....so my rims are all nice and shiny again. It took a couple of hours, but was worth the effort. Other than that, it mostly been the same old, same old. Nothing much new, to expound on. My brother is away for a week again, so I'm taking care of his dog while he's away. She is a joy to be with....we have so much fun together ( check my pic folder for pics of Missy from last fall ). I keep thinking that some of her energy will rub off on me....I could use a good infusion of energy these days!

I have a multitude of trees in my yard and I often find bird nests on the ground after a good wind. The robins seem to favor the evergreen trees....both pine and spruce. I found a particularly nice one on the ground this morning, just off the driveway. The complexity of these nests always amaze me. The weaving of sticks, leaves, large grasses and mud to make the sturdy outside shell and the smaller, fine grass that is used for a soft lining....amazing. There were remanents of 3 hatched eggs in the nest found this morning. Nice to know that the nest had served it's purpose and that they youngin's were out on there own, before their refuge had taken a tumble to the ground. I use to pick these nests up while mowing the yard and give them to my cousin who had a flower and craft shop. She would use them in her wreaths and flower arrangements. She has closed her business now, so I have almost 10 of them sitting around. Not sure what I'll do with them, but for now I'll just keep collecting these incredible little homes.

Remy it was fun. Good to see a real person on here. Will be back in Wisconsin sometime in August for good. Catch me on MySpace if you wish (search for Gersguy).

Birds' nests are amazing! I love examining them and thinking about how they were constructed. So cool!

You asked what the lettuce wraps were... There just minced chicken and spices, some fried noodles, and a half a head of iceberg lettuce. You peel off a piece of lettuce, and pile on some chicken, add some hot soy sauce stuf, and wrap it up. It's so delicious!

I've been enjoying the fireflies, too. Goose and I like to catch them during our walks around the neighborhood; they just ride along on your hands until they're ready to take off.
