Well, the broken tooth has now been ground down, impressions made and a temporary crown installed. Should be about a week before the permanent one is ready. The dentist gouged the underside of my tongue with the grinder....then made it sound like it was my fault for moving my tongue around while he was grinding. My jaw and tongue were so numb, I didn't know what the hell my tongue was doing in there. Anyway, it's over now and I'm waiting for the lidocaine to wear off and see how much damage he did...I think I'll go take some ibuprophen right now, to see if I can head things off.
The Bday went well. Many thanks to AnnaLee , Maxi, Shayne, Sophie, laceyglove, KikiBH and Darklis for the Bday wishes. You're all very kind!
Maxi gave me a Bday present...in the form of tagging me for this 20 questions thing. I don't know if I'm 100% clear on whether it's supposed to be just 20 things about yourself or 20 things that no one here knows about you. And wouldn't it really be more like 20 answers, since there are really no questions? Either way, I guess I'd better get to it.....some of these might be short and some might be long.....you're just gonna have to live with it.
1. My Dad, who died 13 years ago, has always been and always will be, my hero and my idol.
2. There is kind of a curse in my family, on my Dad's side. For 9 generations, dating well back into the 1700's, the youngest son of the youngest son, have all died at the age of 71. My Dad was the youngest son of his father...he died at 71. My Grandpa was the youngest son of his father...he died at the age of 71 My Great Grandpa was the youngest son of his father...he died at 71...etc. You get the picture. I'm my Dad's youngest son. I just turned 47...by my reckoning, I've got 24 years left...unless I can break the trend. I'll break whether I make it to 72 or not, since I don't have any kids, let alone a son.
3. I passed the private pilots written test at age 14 and solo'd a couple of months later. I quit flying a couple of years later and never have since.
4. I almost always have a song or melody running through my head.....I sing to myself all the time....since I'm usually by myself anyway.
5. In July of 1976, I was chased and clubbed by Spanish riot police in Madrid, Spain. (There's quite a story to that)
6. There are quite a few things that I don't like or am not fond of....but relativlely few things that I hate.
7. I have a fear of being burned alive....but I'm not afraid of fire in any normal circumstance.
8. I've always been fascinated with Austrailia and New Zealand and would like to visit them someday.
9. I like to cook.... for myself, family or friends, but wouldn't want to do it for a living.
10. I'm probably happiest right now, when I'm in my pickup or on my motorcycle.
1/2 way!
11. I love new technology, but love the old way of doing some things as well....I'll sometimes do things the old, harder way, just because I think we shouldn't forget how to do them and for traditional reasons.
12. I love being outdoors, working and being physical...but I hate to exercise.
13. Aged sippin' bourbon, straight with no ice, is my libation of choice....short of that, any good bourban and cola will do. I only smoke a cigar about 3 or 4 times a year, but when I do, I want a nice glass of bourbon to go along with it.
14. A good story...told by someone who tells good stories...is one of my favorite things in the world. I'd rather hear it, than read it.
15. I've never needed lots and lots of friends....just a few really good ones.
16. I get attached to mechanical things...like cars, pickups, motorcycles, etc.
17. I've lived all but 4 years of my life in the same house.
18. I make up stories, as I lay in bed waiting to drift off to sleep, but I never dream about the stories.
19. I think God intended for dogs to be our companions. No other animal makes me as happy.
20. I've been involved in agriculture all my life...most of it as a farmer. 6 years ago, I quit and went to the city to see what I could do there. 2 years ago I came back home to take care of my Mom, who is in her early 80's and has severe osteoporosis (her vertebrae are fracturing and collapsing and are extremely painfull) and Parkinson's disease (which makes her weak, and off balance so that it's difficult for her to walk), so that she could stay in her own home and not have to go to a nursing home. My full time job now is taking care of my Mom, keeping the house, doing the cooking, the cleaning and the 5 acre yard, managing the family farm and working part time for the Sheriff's office as a reserve Deputy, late at night after Mom has gone to bed.
WHEW!....that's 20!
