The fact that the US Congress is even "debating" legalizing the use of torture in the "war on terror" infuriates me to the point where I can barely think straight.
In light of the implied consent constantly manufactured by the media (who should instead be making daily front page news of the horrifying implications this has for America and the world), I can sort of understand how the majority of Americans can sit by and not hammer down the doors of the White House and Congress to stop this whole thing cold. But it doesn't make me feel any better.
I mean, it's FUCKING TORTURE people!
If America wants to retain any semblance of a moral high-ground she need to turn back from this now. An entire nation fell to madness under the leadership of a fear-mongering psychopath last century and history has yet to forgive them for it. Every citizen of the US should ask themselves if they want to live with the knowledge that they let their government lead them down a similar path.
America is a beautiful country founded on a beautiful set of ideas. Don't let the pack of criminals and fanatics infesting your Capital take that away from you.
