So there I was, minding my own business, driving along I35, in my 97 Eclipse. Life was feeling great. I had good music on the radio, both windows down and the sun shining through my open sunroof. Then all of a sudden my engine makes this horrible "crunch" sound and I hear pieces of metal bouncing off of the concrete and the bottom of my car. I pull off the road and shut off my,now, noisy engine. I pop the hood to find a large hole in the front of my engine block. Upon further inspection I notice that I can not only see into the engine through this hole but also through another hole in the backside of the engine. I talked to a mechanic I met about a week ago. He tells me it's gonna cost me about $1000 to get the engine replaced with a used one. The Mitsubishi dealer wanted to charge me $5000. Even with a new engine and the car in mint condition it's only worth about $3,500. I fucking hate dealers.
My cousin has an old Jeep that he said I can borrow till I get the money to get my car fixed. Four days after borrowing the Jeep the transmission locks up. So now I am having to ask for rides everywhere till I can get the money. At least I'm not having to pay the high gas prices right now.
This is a pic of the hole in the front of my engine. It's about 3 inches wide and 5 inches tall. I couldn't get a good pic of it because its in a bad spot and my camera won't fit.
