It isn't much of a secret this is my FAVORITE time of the year, hands down. I live in a lovely suburban neighborhood. Very cookie cutter. The houses are a bit too close together, everyone's lawns and gardens are manicured, mini vans are in abundance, children play freely in the streets, and families are seen filling up the park swings that are on nearly every street corner. Some people hate this picture of suburban life; I absolutely love it. My son goes out to play with our next door neighbors and stays out until the street lamps are lit. The leaves are falling like bits of a colorful painting as I drive down the main parkway. One of my absolute favorite times of the year in this cookie cutter heaven is the holiday season. Which is officially upon us :) The leaves go from green to red, to purple to brown. Pumpkins, scarecrows, wreaths, and Christmas lights line every street with the decor changing every month. The air smells spicy and crisp. The sun peaks through the tree branches that turn more and more bare every day. It's magical. I love it. I just took in the Halloween decorations a few days ago. Thanksgiving decor is being slowly pulled out of storage and set up around the house. All of the season's food and it's aromas fill the house constantly. I spend my evenings quiet, working on a craft project while watching holiday themed movies (hey, it's never too early for Christmas magic!), with my candles burning enchanting the air. I am thoroughly in love with this time of the year. I am feeling even more nostalgic towards it as this is my last fall/winter here in Maryland. Next year we will be living in Vero Beach, Florida. No more leaves changing and falling. No more snow. No more searching for and chopping down our own Christmas tree. It will be nice living on a beach again, but I will miss having four distinct seasons. I am grateful to still have such a big family here, I will have to come home to enjoy white Christmases.
Enough of my sentimental ramblings...life has been good here. Things have calmed since my last blog! Life is feeling normal again, which I am embracing. I love the routine of my life. Getting the little one ready for school, chores, errands, cooking, bed time routines, more chores, tea and relaxing. I wouldn't have it any other way. I really believe the best job in the world is a housewife and mommy :)
Halloween was fun! My husband and I went as King Triton and Ursula. My darling @Acacia came to hang out for a little while. I was starting to get really sick, so I ended up going home early to rest. But it was good to see her, if only for a few minutes.
Not much else happening aside from the aforementioned, how was everyone's Halloween? What did you dress up as? Are you one of those who gets thrilled about the holidays or do you just hold your breath until it's over? Any special holiday traditions?
