work might get a bit better this year.
we had our 2005 AOP meeting today.
things might get better in the direction of how our stores will coincide with our CDA agreements. although PCNA will be all over our ass' watching everything we do. but our funding will get better this year.
we went over our gross profit margins for period 12. they weren't so good on a volume standpoint. but over all net revenue was up over a point and a half. which is very good. the downside is we didn't hit bonus and we wont get our quarterly. our SG&A was up in period 12 but not enough to get us up overall due to the volume loss.
YTD i was down 33,000 cases. which isn't all that bad considering the loss of ad plans we had all year.
which makes this year nice for me. i wont have to lap any numbers like i did last year. it's a fresh start and i have a chance to exceed my numbers from last year. i really have room to improve my selling this year.
this year things are going to be different on my route. i'm not going to be as laid back as i was the last year. i let a lot of things slide, and was too buddy buddy with my employees. i didnt ride them as much, which is why i think i wasnt such a good boss. i let things slide and didnt raise my voice a lot. i am pretty easy going when it comes to work. if you do your job and do it right, i wont say anything. i held things back last year. this year, things are different. im going to be more strict or stern. i want things done to my expectations. in the past i would see somehting wrong and just fix it and not make my empoyees come back and do it right. i dont have time to do that this year. my boss is riding my ass on selling and becoming a manager. my job isnt to merchandise. and i focuz to much on that, but my philosphy is if you want something done right, you have to do it. My guys have been on my route 2 years now. they should know what the right thing and the wrong things are to do. but they dont do it half the time. again, this year i will focus on structuring my team to be good merchanidsers and coach them to be in a management position.
