ok so it's been WAY too long since my last blog. I've been literally buried for weeks now.
A few notes:
- we're on our 2nd film in the slate now, titled Riddle of the Sphinx.
- I'll be in the US the week of the 17-22. San Francisco & LA. let me know if you'll be around (I'm in SF to speak at web 2.0)
Ok lastly, my trip. The wife and I decided we needed to take a little vacation sans kids. Been having lots of life, marriage and other challenges lately and felt like a good idea to escape together for a bit and see if we could re-kindle things.
My friend was having his annual party in Istanbul (actually the party is off the coast on one of the Prince's Islands Buyukada).
There are no cars on this island, only these carriages...
So the party has turned into a long weekend. we arrived at the hotel, checked in and booked a massage (which was great). our masseuses told us we should definitely get a couples Turkish bath.. which we decided to do. Um, you'll have to find my tale of that someplace else, but it's something like this,
except smaller steamier and my wife, me and the two rather hot turkish women who were there to massage & bath both of us were all wearing these little cheese cloth thing and nothing else. Turkish bath (hammam) definitely not to be missed, a seriously amazing, relaxing and insanely erotic time. We also did a little touristy stuff, shopped in the grand bazaar, (thank god I didn't buy a stupid rug) saw the blue mosque and the Hagia Sofia (a church and a mosque built on top of one another since time immortal) what an amazing city.. In the evening we got dragged to one of the seediest gay bars I've ever been to (that's another story) and we ended the 1st evening in a bar on top of that building with a view of the city with a bunch of Bosnian teenagers dancing to 80's music! One of them asked me for my autograph! (no idea who she thought i was)
My friends party has apparently been going on for years, it was our 1st year going. It was amazing.. this years theme was a Hat party.. but the party itself was full of these odd, ex-pats, Russian oligarchs, journalists, entrepreneurs, media people, etc. Basically it felt like something out of the great Gatsby (I was wearing my favorite pork pie hat!) Super intelligent conversation, great food, the band was amazing, they sounded like 3 mustapha's 3 (if you haven't check them out then you really need to!) they played all night and people tango'd etc. we got home at 4am..
we took the ferry back to Istanbul and did a little shopping and then skipped back to London.. an amazing trip.
I'm expecting promo photos of sphinx this week and will post when I have them. I'd love to setup a dinner in SF or LA to catch up with anyone..
