Tear me down,
I'm just a woman,
Life isn't hard when you have no voice,
Or a choice to be heard.
When rape is a crime,
But is barely punished because it was "what she was wearing,"
That is when it's a danger, an abomination
To be labeled "woman".
Just wear a shapeless garment,
Save your brothers' eyes, they say, so they won't want to touch you until
Marriage
Because being chaste is the price for my womanhood.
Don't want to be damaged goods,
Who would want to marry you then?
And isn't marriage what every good woman wants?
Silence is golden
When it's what's between your legs that count
As self-worth.
Independence isn't worth striving for,
It'll make you unworthy of being wanted.
And isn't that what all good little girls need?
To be wanted and loved and held down in return.
