I went from Reno to San Diego, Palm Springs and Los Angeles in the span of a week.
I went to San Diego, wasn’t on the ground more than 2 hours before being told I was going to the desert. The hot springs were so relaxing! Two days later, we were back in the car and drove the three hours back to my friend’s beach apartment. Spending my days sleeping in and working on my tan at the beach with a serving of Hodad’s Onion Rings.
So I’m checking my social media, and I see my old boss’ band has a gig in LA at the Whiskey. THE WHISKEY! I ain’t never been to Los Angeles before, so I called him up and asked if he needs a roadie for the gig, he says “yes”, so I’m now taking another 3-hour road trip. This time, to the city of Angels. Saw the Beverly Hills hotel on the drive up, that was cool. But what happened on the Strip was something else. I didn’t realize how small the venue was, but the sound acoustics were amazing! The lineup was a Cheap Trick tribute, Aerosmythe/Aerosmith (my boss’ band), Fool/Tool and Led Zepagain/Led Zeppelin. Aerosmythe received an encore, which pissed the Fool guys off. Ate dinner at The Rainbow Room, paid my respects to Lemmy before heading home.
Sunday was lazy, spent recovering swimming at the beach. It was also the night I was taken to a steakhouse as a belated birthday dinner. Everything was delicious! I wasn’t keen on having to grill my own steak, as I don’t grill, but everything else was so good. I never would’ve imagined having such a vacation like this, and can’t wait for the next vacation.
