Long Time Runkophiles may recall that I am a parade aficionado. Tonight, I attended the Kaposia Days Grand Parade of my second adopted hometown of South St. Paul. Here is the report:
I. POSITIVES
-Food!! The staple of MN/ND/WI festival foods, Deep Fried Cheese Curds, were tastily and abundantly available. Surprisingly, a Texas-style brisket sandwich was to be found and was palatable.
-Public consumption laws are not enforced. Everyone was a-drinkin' on the streets. If only I had known!!
II. NEGATIVES
-NO marching bands! Bands may be lame and often suck, but every parade should have at least one.
-Only 3 fire trucks. What the fuck kind of parade only has 3 fire trucks?
-S....l......o........w...... upwards of 5 minute gaps between units. No good.
-Even the South St. Paul Male Chorus float didn't have the actual chorus members, it was just a pickup truck blaring their CD.
C'mon!! Given this town's history, I expected much, much more.
