so my boyfriend was driving through Concord, CA on Monument Blvd. yesterday, minding his own business, driving the speed limit, doing nothing wrong... and he gets pulled over by the cops.. when the cops came up to his window, he asked what was wrong and they wouldn't tell him anything and eventually made him get out of the car and sit on the hood of the cop car.. my boyfriend continued to ask what the problem was and the cops were asking when he got his car (its a 2005 toyota scion) he told them he got it a few weeks ago, and continued to ask what was going on.. the cops told him he was getting too roudy (he was still sitting on the hood and hadn't moved at all) so they handcuffed him.... the cops told him he fit a profile... my boyfriend told them that he didnt do anything wrong, he wasnt speeding, he just bought the car, it was in his name, and they could check the registration on the windshield, but they have no right to search his car... they ignored him and made him wait for 45 minutes or more and when they finally confirmed that it wasnt him, they said sorry and left...
my boyfriend is mexican and this isnt the first time this has happened to him.. in fact, the same thing happened to his dad last month.. exept the cops didnt even attempt to talk to him because they figured he didnt speak english, when they realized he did, they told him he fit a profile and made him wait a little longer and eventually they let him go.... the cops are complete assholes to them for the simple fact that they are mexican and must be up to no good in the wrong part of town... this discusts me... i'm half mexican but i look white, and i was pulled over for the first time the other day for speeding... the cop was sooo nice to me, he was really friendly and explaned exactly what i did wrong to be pulled over.. i was so suprised i actually said thank you (im such a nerd)... but anyway, the point is, if i had been male and had slightly darker skin, he probably would have done the same thing to me that they did to my boyfriend... i'm not saying all cops are bad, but racial profiling has got to stop... its bullshit...

That is bullshit but it happens to everyone. I'm white and on the wrong side of town late one night and i'm lost, guess who gets pulled over. They then proceed to have me wait for 30 minutes while they check my registration. They never did give me a straight answer as to why they pulled me over except my license plate light was out. I checked it and guess what it wasn't. It is profiling and it is there to catch the bad people. So often though it is aimed at the innocent.
