Social Anxiety Disorder: I think it's more common than people think. It seems to me that more and more in this society we are encouraged to not interact socially. It is common now to see people constantly on their cellphones talking or furiously texting. Actual human interaction is becomming a much rarer occurence. Even when you are in a room with your friends, how often will they check their cell phone or even text in your presense. Most people do not even see that as being rude. Everything around us is always encouraging non-interaction. Now you don't even have to be in the same room with your friends to play video games. If you have a problem with a bill, you have to talk to a computer for half an hour just to get to a living breathing person. ATM's were made so you dan't have to interact with a teller. Pay for gas, pull out your credit card. Even grocery stores now have self check out. All of these things encourage you not to talk to an actual person. So, is it any wonder lots of people have some sort of social anxiety. I am only making an observation and i am passing no sort of judgement.
True. Communicating on the internet is a form of interaction. But when you Sm, or text or even write a blog you can really lose the context of what is being said. Body language, Facsial cues and enunciation are missing when you read something. It is open to any kind of interpretation. Usually not the one you intended.
One other thing i have noticed is how we, on the internet, hide behind names. There are many reasons for this. Some good and some bad. The good, i don't mind. Like not wanting a stalker and not wanting your enemies to find you. The bad, does bother me. The ones who use annonimity to attack others. Or they hide behind these fake names to spout bigoted and racist things. If you are so sure of what you are saying then use your real name, quit hiding. That is all.
