Ever have a 'Led Zepplin Moment'? Yeah, well, I sure did on the drive home tonight...
...Perfectly moonlit landscape was all I could see from my rear view tonight. Blaring from the speakers was the most amazingly mixed Led Zepplin cd, one that I feel priveledged to own. I can't say that I have a favorite Led Zepplin song, but I can certianly say I have 'moments'. I have my fave Zepplin moments in songs; memories of events that took place during a song (stoned of course, er, AND sober ).
Tonight I am going to share with you all the moment I had. During "Communication Breakdown", there is a creepy, but almost ahead of their times -sound wise- interlude, after which Jimmy Page breaks through with that blazing solo. That to me is true mastery. Granted there had to be tweaking of the track while in production, the final product, in my opinion, validates the credit given to their perfect orchestration. Then, in the orgasmic interlude in "Wanna Whole lotta Love"- the one where the clammering guitar and echoed bass line remind one of scattered thunder, but only at the mere begining of the storm, and with symbols so light that it sends the message to your brain to visualize bolts of lightning dancing across a field. In fact, The free-form section was the result of Page and engineer Eddie Kramer "twiddling every knob known to man." Then, for a moment, the music descends, slightly, lowly, and out of no where John Bonnam's thundering bass drum beckons Jimmy Pages fingers to dance harder than they have ever danced before across their steel dance floor! Then and only then, one cannot help but move whatever they can, be it fingers, head, neck and or hips, to the pulsating string pciking of Mr. Page.
So, yes, I drove home stoned, and this is what I got. A 'Led Zepplin Moment'. Have any of YOU had one?? C'mon, yknow you've needed to get the LEAD OUT once or twice!
**Side Note** I drive REALLY REALLY good when I am stoned, but thank you for the concern, guys
