I don't care if I never see another road sign again...
...Had the most hair raising expirience this morning coming back from Alexandria, VA. After a looooong, but very, um, interesting night, I was not prepared for the drive home. Every sign seemed to say the same thing, that being nothing that would guide me back home. So, on my first attempt, I ended up in downtown DC, passing the Washington Monument to my left. Thinking, "Oh shit! I've really done it now", I call my dad in a panic. Halfway through the conversation, right about after he tells me 14th street may lead me into a bad section of town, the phone cuts off. Oh, lord, what to do, what to do.
So, naturally, I go around this circle, somehow get onto Vermont Avenue, and mid street, do a U-Turn. Completely illegal, but that was not the last time I did this in my little early morning adventure. I get back ONTO the 14th street bridge, certain that this would take me back towards the exit for the GW parkway, which I had missed the first time around due to misguiding info, begining my trek INTO DC.
Back on 395, I end up at the Pentagon. Yes, that's right. I completely bypass my exit for the GW PKWY; hell, I don't even think I saw a sign at that point. I stopped at a gas station, and get some pretty helpful directions from some dudes there. On my way back, however, I turn onto the parkway, GOING THE WRONG FUCKING WAY! AND! To make matters worse, I could have turned around at the Lyndon Johnson memorial (I Think that's right?), but thought better of it and was SURE I'd get my chance to turn around somewhere further up. Well, I start to come up onto the Regan national Airport. Fucking fantastic. Completely frustrated, I say, or scream rather," Fuck IT! Let someone pull me over. This is my only turn around point!" That's right, I did it again, I made a U-Turn on the fucking GW PKWY AND managed to hold up traffic.
Yeah, I know, it's people like me that piss commuters like you off. Well, I just got ONE thing to say. If virginia wasn't so goddam difficult to manuver, and the signs gave you not only the correct information, but showed themselves more than three feet before the fucking exit ramp, there might not be people like me!
Anyway, this won't be the last time that I travel into VA. It's just gonna be a LONG time before I do the whole Arlington/Old Town Alexandria thing again. I mean, it was a challenge, and one that I had to over come with a dead cell phone, and a quarter tank of gas. And, as pissed as it made me, I was just glad to start seeing signs for 495.
In other news, I have come to two conclusions, one being an actual eyewitness encounter. Ok, so first of all, REAL potheads like the smell of a dead skunk. Therefore, I am able to say I am NOT a REAL pothead, becasue the smell of a dead skunk induces vomitting, in my case anyway. Secondly, I am not going to sleep with another person until it is the REAL DEAL and I am going to chill out on the dating scene for a while. And NO, nothing happened to cause me to feel this way and I certainly have not been whoring myself around (hell, this chick hasn't gotten the booty in like 4 months!) . It's just something I have been mulling over for the past couple of weeks. So, I guess we will just see how it goes....
**Oh, and lastly (I HATE using this word. It is SOOO overused in the developing stages of one's writing, i.e. high school! BUT, my journey has made me too tired to act as the human thesaurus this am), I am going to be looking for a new tattoo artist. Mainly because I KNOW that there is better work out there, and also because I don't want to go the rest of my life with just ONE artists work on my body. I am thinking of checking out Jinx Proof Or fatty's in DC, possibly even the new shop that has opened in Bethesda. I hate to say it, but I really am not confident in my artists 'flat' work/coloring style. I NEED more shading and depth, and unfortunately, I just DON'T think he is capable. Any suggestions???
