Can someone please tell me where happiness lives? I am ready to go huff and puff and blow that mother fucker's house down!
...OK, ok, that'd be a BIIIIT extreme, wouldn't you agree? Seriously, I am not THAT miserable. I swear. I just would like to have ONE, just one, insanely amazing event, even if it only lasts like five minutes, to occur in my life before we reach '06. I don't care what it is, but it HAS to be enough to just about bowl me over.
On a much lighter note, I went to the Warped tour yesterday and had a fucking amazing time! Not quite amazing enough to fulfill the above statement, but pretty fucking close. Didn't run into one single blunder, didn't make an arse of me self, and saw some pretty rad fucking music in the meantime! So, here's my QUICK review of the bands that I saw:
-- My Chemical Romance-- though they sound great live, it's only as great as sitting through blood curdling screams, or nails down a chalk board. Several times, I heard the more 'hardcore' punks say under their breath for the lead singer to just go and slit his wrists already. No body likes a whiner! There is no whining in music! oh, wait, yes there is, if you're FUCKING EMO! ugh...
--Avenged Sevenfold-- So, my brother brushed off my excitement for this band as, "hey, they are just a metal band for chicks, they aren't REAL metal." Ok, first of all, HE got me turned onto them about three months ago, and secondly, even if there WERE chicks in the band, and chicks happen to dig 'em, what's so wrong wtih that? They had a great sound, vocally and instrumentally, and I am thoroughly pleased to have stayed through the entire set.
--Go Betty Go-- Now, THIS is a chick band. They are quite fierce, and even only standing at MAYBE 5'0 tall, I'd put money on the lead singer being able to kick your ass. She may have the voice of a twelve year old school girl, but has the projection of a 50 year old drunkard!
--Skindread-- Being partial to them for the mere fact that they incorporate dancehall and even rock steady into their songs, I was even MORE blown by their live performance. I did not realize either that the lead singer had a brit accent until yesterday. SOOO SOO SOO SEXY! His vocals were GREAT and the mixing/selecting that he did as intro's to the songs were fucking awesome. They even closed out with a sample of one of my FAVE old school tracks "Ring the Alarm". When I started to do a little skankin, the kids moved out of my way a little but were like, damn, the old chick can move (the majority of the crowd yesterday was about 12-15).
--Street Dogs-- I first heard these guys on an AMP street punk comp that I got about six months ago. I liked the track they had on there and I was stoked to hear 'em play it yesterday. They are definately GOOD punk.
--The Transplants-- Yes, I saved the best for last. Even though Tim looked as though he was struggling slightly, he still did a great job, and was boucin around. Maybe he'd just had a late night before (readers roll their eyes and say, yeah, right, he probably just took a blast before hittin' the stage!). It was amazing how the entire crowd just swarmed the stage. I felt bad for all those toting the liberty spikes and three foot 'hawks, 'cause besides a local stage with some pretty good local punk, The Transplants were about as good as they were gonna get. Travis fucking kicked it on the drums, though. To me, I think that he has always been SO much more than Blink 182. There was SLIGHT hope with the Boxcar Racer project, but only slight. Now that he is touring with the Transplants, I think that he is more in his element. So, yeah, it's agreeable that it's a BIIIIT more poppy (think Garnier shampoo commercial) BUT! The band still posses all of the elements of a good punk band, 'cause we all know, in reality, Tim's singing is not, and will never be melodic or pretty. Ha, on the drive home, One of the dudes I was with was like, "Gee, I wonder just HOW MANY of the songs Tim writes are about directions to his Crack dealer's house". No, the fact that we were STOOOONED out of our minds did not make that funnier, it was just funny for the sake of being funny!
Anyway, there was TONS of free shit that all the lil record labels were handing out. In fact I got a free comp and Dropkick Murphy's sticker from the Hellcat tent. It was definately a good time had by all and I am so glad I went.

I need to go to a concert soon, it's been forever since I've been to one due to lack of time, money, and stuff I really need to take care of. I hate working and I hate bill$.

I have 4 upcoming concerts planned and probably a couple more last minute ones. Tibetan Freedom concert! That memory scares me, lightning to close!
