I hate doing back to back entries like this, but I felt obligated to let the people know things were going well again and I also promised another memeber that I'd have a paticular album review by the end of weekend on here
So, the album is Kings of Leon's newest release. I'm not sure I feel completely qualified to critique this one, in that I have not heard their first. I plan on it. However, for now, I can offer this:
If Modest Mouse and The Black Crows were to have given birth to a band in the mid ninties who were raised by The Strokes on a steady diet of Buddy Holly and lynard Skynard, they would have grown up to become Kings of Leon. Call me crazy, but that's what I heard their entire album. And NO, that's not a complaint. I think that's a wonderful musical blend and in fact, I am waiting for the Southern Rock revival. We've spent the last two years on this 80's synth pop revival, whick I loved, but it's time for a fresh one. Of course, not a new musical movement, becasue I believe that history repeats itself, except for in the way of technology. With fashion and music, and sometimes even film (with the exception of special effects, more along the lines of concept) you'll see a trend that was popular for a decade make it's way back to NOW and see it be called 'hip'. Look back, you'll see this was the 'trend' since the early ninties. Either way, I was excited about the album, enjoyed all the tunes, started rocking out from song one (which you all KNOW I appriciate!).
So, the next purchase is Louis XIV, who were also compared to a band from the 70's in their SG interview, the "sleazy T.Rex". Oh! how this cd buying is going to make me go broke!
