I think I've written about this before
.I was just thinking about a band that I know I've heard before, somewhere in the foggy past that is my grade school years. The band that I am thinking of came to mind when I started listening to the band Manchester Orchestra. And this happens all of the time. I mean, I have known for over a decade now that I want to be a music journalist, but in the same right, I didn't absorb music the way that other music journo's did. I didn't absorb every song title and album title and every member of the bands' names. I did what the average Joe is so guilty of doing- I just listened. This, I am finding, is quite crippling. I feel like a 1 or 2 year old who is on the brink of learning to speak and forming words, even sentence fragments. I am grunting and pointing, and putting one index finger against my temple trying to recall "that band" with "that song". I even, with my sometimes tone deaf voice, try and hum the tune or melody. I get really animated, but nothing comes. Sometimes, the name of the band or song will come to mind at a later, more inopportune moment. I think this is why I need to invest in a small tape recorder, or hell, I hear even ipod's can record your voice, now. Yes, I am that far behind the technological times that not only am I without an ipod, but I also do not have even the simplest of technology, that being a hand held tape recorder. S.O.S.
Also, thanks to everyone for the happy birthday wishes. Ya'll sure do know how to treat a girl right!
